Here are some of the most common errors using the -self pronouns. They are also called reflexive pronouns because they reflect back or refer back to the subject of the verb.

• Don't pay for me. I'll pay for myself.
• Don't pay for me. I'll pay for me.
  • Here MYSELF refers back to the subject of the sentence (here = "I")

• I hope we enjoy ourselves.
• I hope we enjoy ourself.
  • The plural form of -SELF is -SELVES, so be careful using ourselves, yourselves, themselves, especially yourself and yourselves

• You and Aki can pay for yourselves.
• You and Aki can pay for yourself.

• We stopped talking and looked at each other.
• We stopped talking and looked at ourselves.
  • Here I am looking at the other person and the other person is looking at me. If we "look at ourselves" it probably means we are both looking in a mirror.
