Here are some of the most common errors using the -self pronouns. They are also called reflexive pronouns because they reflect back, or refer back, to the subject of the verb.
- Don't pay for me. I'll pay for myself.
- Don't pay for me. I'll pay for me.
- Here MYSELF refers back to the subject of the sentence (here = "I").
- I hope we enjoy ourselves.
- I hope we enjoy ourself.
- The plural form of -SELF is -SELVES, so be careful using ourselves, yourselves, themselves, especially yourself and yourselves.
- You and Aki can pay for yourselves.
- You and Aki can pay for yourself.

- We stopped talking and looked at each other.
- We stopped talking and looked at ourselves.
- Here I am looking at the other person and the other person is looking at me. If we "look at ourselves", it probably means we are both looking in a mirror.
